Been testing out Quixel’s new dDo PBR and getting used to
the features, while I think there could be a lot more added to it since
seemingly the Legacy version seems to be easier to navigate but also better at
giving objects detail (rust and so on). It is in Beta, and it might be that I’m
just not experienced enough with it, but I think it has been slightly a disappointment
for me. It can create the accurate PBR effectively but with the wired bugs
which stop me from exporting into TARGA files and the removal of automatically overlapping
the models wireframe in the 3Do, there just seems to be less of what there used
to be. Over all it was a decent learning experience and I think once I get my
hands on Unreal Engine 4 I’ll be able to get straight into action with creating
scenes.
Here is the test PBR. Still need to get to grips with adding
detail, but the object is not exactly an industrial object so it feels ok to
leave it as it is with the smoothness and the lack of scratches.
