Si Fi Cannon

this is my moodbord. i desided to go for a mortar stile cannon built by corporation and used by the common murcinery. this is of coarse based in the future. where Plasma technolaty is hevaly involved on a daily basis
I derided to go straight into the modeling of the mortar cannon as i had the idea based in my head alredy.

once i had finished the model i set up lights and rendered an image at 4000 by 2000.

i then proceeded with the paint-over and laiter finished the task, however, the only parts i found difficult was the textureing of the model as i had to be very precise in placing them to match the modle, as well as coloring problems. another problem was the lack of colour as the weapons is supposed to be grayed it seems to end up blending in the background and making the plasma canisters more highlighted than needed.

Alien Scene

Alien Scene

for my mood bored i foucused on the envioment more over than the plant itself as the envioment defines the plant survival methods, otherwise the plant essenchaly is just sympoly there rather than having a basic survival method defined by it's envioment.

i am also working with Alister for our games envioment which has compleat alien scenes withing the game we are planing to create, so there for i am using this to help benchmark our game.

moodbord and progress:

 renders:

the idea was to get an organic look to them, however it did not look too good for some reason in the renders, i believe this is due to the light following the camera and Auto-desk cont implementing anything to prevent this.

old guy (Christopher Lee)

in this i decided to try an experiment, well, sort of, i tried to reference draw the world renowned Sir Christopher Lee, well, sort of, i wanted to zoom into the features on his face as he did not have meany obvious "old man wrinkles" as one would expect, more suttle, yet meany. so during this assignment i decided to try and draw his face straight into Photoshop rather than sketch it out and then put it into Photoshop.

initially i tried to do a 3D model of an old mans head, however that was a colossal failier. so i desided to stay with 2D with this one.

this is the second to final piece, the eyes are too big but unfortunately they where also part of other scetches within the image making them extrimaly dificult to resize.

and so now the "Final Piece", im not exacly happy with this but then again this is my first attempt at reference drawing directly into Photoshop, i stayed to sympole colour rather then full out, mainly because i wanted to see the features with the wrincals, and it was difficult to preform an effective way of creating light, as i waited too much time experimenting with the 3D trying to mimic Christopher Lees face.

also the colour is rather off and its hard to define a good tone as the colour was painted behind the scetch rather than on top, this also meant that i had to stick to traditional colour rather than obtaining more forms of colour through grayscail.

Si-Fi

after much thinking i decided instead of doing some kind of heavy complicated cruser or something like that im going with a complicated speeder instead, my thought with this one was a desert or arctic (some kind of plane terrain) to move fast across quickly.

the idea of the speeder is to move quickly so it had to be light, capable of carrying whatever is required that needs to be moved quickly, it also had to be capable of being "transformed" into other meens, so for example, if this where to be part of a "bandit raid" it can be mounted with a hevy armore pirsing gun, and another would be converted into seating for more bandits while another will be converted for cargo.

the speeder can also gain abit of lift when going over rougher terrain, so for example of the sand dunes where to become deeper and larger it can push itself to stay in a comfortable level of hight over them rather than bounsing over them.

these are the sketches at the beginning

the first one is the texture of the speeder with the gun attached to it and the the last one is the speeder itself untextured taken at an urlier date.

these are some standers shots with the speeder textured

these are the perspective shots, overall im qite plesed with the result, altho i left the texturing farly late so i could not get the detail i wanted in there (such as bump mapping and so on) but in the end i like the lighting (altho slightly too bright perhaps) and i like this end result which could of been worse.
