OK is basically i decided to Photoshop some robot dude, using brushes by "Daarken" who has a variety of extremely useful brushes.
what i wanted to attempt to do was not only get shading and texture right but also experiment with lights, like a light from a torch on a misty day/night and so forth. admittedly the light inspiration came from a game called "Alan Wake" in which light is your best friend and is used to protect you from your enemy's and harm them, i won't go into a rant, but that's the basic idea.
so anyway hears the Robot in the Dark!
so in this its not exactly as dark as it could be, more of an extreme "smog" effect placed in the background, the robots eyes projecting light did have texture on them to give it a dirty effect, all scratched up and used and so forth, which was hidden when i added the lighting. Originally i wanted to just have the lights glowing but i thought the light being projected would of been more effective in terms of mood and sort of a "lost" effect, by this i mean sort of a loneliness on the seen, sort of "alone in the dark" effect, which probably isn't portrayed too well, but nun the less it is still within the threshold of what i was looking for in the digital painting.
OK so after seeing my faults i decided to create a slightly enhanced version, well, by "enhanced" i mean fixing the lighting slightly using the "curves" option in Photoshop.
so basically, this is more effective than its predecessor because it genarly has better, and more "moodly" lighting for the digital painting, the background is defotetly a bonus to the digital paintings structure as it adds not only to the mood but the basis of the painting, by this i mean adds to the mystery effect (which ties into the moodily effect as well). i also think that the lights on the robot are genarly enhanced and look better than its predecessor which is a good thing to see
well i hope you enjoyed the look of it.
